What you say

Truth has little need of elaborate explanation. The fewer words you can use, the more meaning they have.

Speak what you know to be true. And there will be no need to hide your thoughts behind your words.

Words have little meaning if there is no conviction to support them. When your words come directly from who you most sincerely are, they carry with them great power.

Do not make the mistake of attempting to deceive others with what you say. For once your words are found to be insincere, you will have great difficulty being taken seriously again.

Words are easy to say. Yet for those words to have any meaning or power, they must closely match the reality of your actions and your being.

Speak clearly, truthfully, with respect and humility. From the truth of who you are, comes the best of what you say.

Culminating Activities

In celebration of “Lingo ng Wika” which happens to be the whole month of August, most of the school have their lined up of activities such as tulaan, sabayang bigkas at papaligsahan ng katutubong sayaw. Among the grade 1 students St. Jude, Migs section, was chosen to perform the poem “Akoy isang Kawal” poem with 9 stanzas consisting of 5 lines each. We have been practicing that poem for almost a month and actions were incorporated middle of August. Migs already performed last August 22, Friday. I was not able to see him perform due to conflict with my business planning. I asked hubby to be there instead, but unfortunately, the program started early and hubby came in late. Hay! Yesterday was Jolo’s turn. They had a sabayang bigkas contest among the kinder-B with piece “Mahirap Magpakatao”. Today as they end the celebration, the students were required to be in their filipiniana costume. Jolo’s is wearing the usual magsasaka while Kuya Migs is wearing Muslim costume courtesy of Tito Eugene. Sorry, I can’t download the pics. . .

Remember their line?

During my teenage years and early part of my adulthood, I really enjoy watching romantic movies. I guess these movies thought me somehow to be passionate.

From the movie City of Angels – 1998 “I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it”.

Another line from the movie Jerry Maguire - 1996

Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) I love you. You complete me. Dorothy (Renée Zellweger) Shut up ... just shut up. You had me at hello.

And famous tagline from my favorite movie When a Man Loves a Woman – 1994 “Through the good times. Through the bad times. When a Man Loves a Woman it's for all times.”

Choose discipline

I miss blogging. . . and to start off my week let me share with you this motivator.

Discipline is a decision you make, over and over again. Discipline is choosing to do what you know must be done, as often and as long as necessary.

With discipline, you can make smart and advantageous use of the time and resources available to you. With discipline, you can create great value for yourself and your world.

The most powerful way to put discipline into your life is to understand and remind yourself of what it can do for you. Once you truly decide to live with it, the power of discipline is yours.

If you do not choose to discipline yourself, you will eventually be subject to the harsh, inescapable discipline imposed upon you by life's realities. It is far more desirable to choose your own discipline and to deal with those realities on your own terms.

Self discipline opens up a world of choices and opportunities which otherwise would not be available to you. Whatever goal you set your sights upon, discipline is the most reliable way to reach it.

Choose, early and often, to use the powerful tool of discipline. And always achieve maximum results from your time and your actions.

Dad turned 77

Last Monday Daddy Pepeng celebrated his 77th Birthday. We offered to take him out of town, but he declined, saying next time na lang . . . . knowing him, he does not like long trips.
Not many can have a father Who’s half as great as you. Others might try, but they fall shy You’re a top-notch father, it’s true.
So that’s why on your birthday,
I want to make sure you know,
I admire your sincerely and love you dearly,
And those feelings continue to grow.
Early morning Migs & Jolo were busy preparing for this.
Dads cake.
We enjoy the food that Ima prepared.

My Long Weekend

Honestly, I did not enjoy the long weekend.

Since Yaya S is not around since Thursday last week, I do all the house chores including ironing, would you believe that? That is the hardest thing I did. Prior to this long weekend, me together with SIL and Ate Che are planning to spend the weekend in Tagaytay, but due to some developments, we opted to stay in Manila and prefer to celebrate Dads 77th Birthday in the house.

Sayang, this should have been our bonding moment. We all had been busy with our own families and we look forward spending quality time together with Daddy and Ima.

I know that another long weekend is coming as Malacañang already declared August 25, Monday, a Holiday. What a coincidence, we are scheduled to have our group business planning on Friday, August 22 to 23. hayyyyy, I really won’t have a good chance talaga to celebrate this long weekends.

Thoughts lead the way

Your thoughts have great influence on your life. So get them working in your favor.

Those things you've convinced yourself you cannot do, you will not do. By the same token, whatever you're absolutely certain that you can accomplish, you will indeed accomplish.

Your thoughts directly and persistently control your actions. And through your actions, you create much of the reality of your life.

Every achievement begins with a thought. And every achievement is supported all along the way by a continuous flow of positive, empowering thoughts.

You won't make something happen just by thinking about it. Yet the things you do cause to happen are those things upon which your thoughts are steadily focused.

Fill your mind with thoughts of positive purpose, joy, and meaningful achievement. Let your thoughts lead the way to the life of your dreams.

What's Happening?

I was out of the blogging world for two consecutive days. Last Saturday was Yaya S 18th Birthday, and hubby and I decided to throw a simple get together with some of her friends in the neighborhood. I prepared spaghetti, burger steak, roasted chicken, tuna sandwich, pansit canton and cake. Yaya S was so happy; according to her, this is the first time that she celebrated her birthday.

Sunday, made the usual routine, had two boys cut their hair. Hear mass and since I feel a little dizzy yesterday, hubby told me not to prepare anything and we will just eat outside. I feel sorry that I was not able to prepare the steak a bought the other day and the mashed potato Migs and Jolo loved. Nonetheless, I can do that some other time.

How about you? You may want to answer the survey . . . and join weekly round up.

exceeded expectation

The Olympic opening was really a blast and I should commend the Chinese community for a job well done. The lighting of torch was spectacular.

The Flame burned, fireworks exploded, and the world gave a great cheer. The XXVIV Olympiad, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, is officially open.

The life that you have

There will be times when you find yourself in extremely difficult circumstances. When those times come, it's important to put things in perspective.

Whatever else may be going on, always remember that you have been blessed with life and the ability to live it as you choose. Think of how completely awesome that is.

The idea that you are a victim of any particular circumstance is simply not accurate. For when you look at the big picture, you're not a victim at all.

You are a very fortunate beneficiary of the greatest circumstance that you could possibly imagine -- being alive and able to direct your own life. All other circumstances pale in comparison.

The transitory ups and downs are merely tiny threads in the overall fabric of your life. Each one ultimately adds to the richness of your experience.

The quality of that experience is up to you, and the fact that you're aware and able to think and act confers on you an incalculable wealth. See it, value and appreciate it, and spend each day being truly worthy of the unique, precious life that you have.

Lucky 8

For Chinese the number 8 is considered lucky just like the number 7 is considered lucky in the West. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the Olympic games in China start on August 8, 2008 or 08/08/08. In China you have to pay extra to have the number 8 in your phone number or license plate. In addition, home and business owners like to have the number 8 in their address.

So, why is the number 8 considered lucky in the minds of Chinese people. The main reason has to do with the pronunciation of the word for the number 8 in China. It is pronounced "ba" and sounds like the word for prosperity which is pronounced "fa". Another reason why the number 8 could be considered lucky is because it is a perfect symmetrical shape. You can cut the number 8 in half vertically or horizontally, and both halves mirror themselves perfectly. Perfect symmetry lends itself to perfect balance. In Chinese Astrology, perfect balance is considered the ideal.

On the date 08/08/08 there is predicted to be a record number of weddings, even surpassing the number of weddings on 07/07/07. According to Chinese Astrology, the date 08/08/08 is in the year of the Rat, the month of the Monkey and the day of the Dragon. It just so happens that the Rat, Monkey and Dragon are in the same affinity group or trine. That means the three Chinese Zodiac animal signs are perfectly compatible with each other.

Therefore, the date 08/08/08 will be especially lucky for Rats, Monkeys and Dragons.

When I was preparing for Migs 7th Birthday, hubby and I decided to have a Formula 1 themed party and upon browsing the net for some ideas, I have found your site http://somethingpurple.blogspot.com/ and it was indeed a big help.

These are some of the highlights from that post

The huge cake – made by Ethan’s grandma [Em’s Mom] / a race track with cars and flags

Invites – A pass for a formula 1 event given by her Godmother

Decors – balloons in color red, blue and yellow.

Em’s buti na lang nag memory plus ako and still remember those things.

Happy 4th Blog Birthday SOMETHING PURPLE . . . may you inspire us more.

Be of service

Those who achieve the most do not see themselves as competing. They see themselves as serving.

If you wish to make clear and unmistakable progress, be of service. If you seek to create great value, be of service.

When your strategy is to grab all you can as quickly as you can, you will be met with debilitating opposition. When your strategy is to be of genuine service, your support will run far and wide.

It is foolish to think that you can fight against the world. True success comes when you choose to work for the world.

At any age, in any condition, for every circumstance, there is much you can give to life. Look for what you can offer, and there is much that you will find.

Give birth to a rich prosperity that will fill your own life and the world around you. Choose always, at every opportunity, to be of service.

Tea and coffee are favorites during cold weather.

I am passing this to all my online friends and together we enjoy the aroma of this coffee.

Upturn

The kids went back to school this morning, they were so excited to see their teachers and friends. Both hubby and I are now back to work. I hope that everything will be ok.

To all those who texted me and prayed for my kids, Thank You! We appreciate it so much.

Is it Dengue?

The kids did not attend school starting Tuesday of last week. I thought they are on their way to recovery until Jolo’s fever recur Friday night and Migs fever recur Saturday morning. I tell hubby that we need to bring the kids to the hospital especially now that there is dengue outbreak. The CMC ER was crowded. Both Migs & Jolo undergone tourniquet test and CBC, Thank God, both were negative.

Under the weather

Last week was the most stressful week of my life.

My three boys were down with fever. Migs got it first then followed by Hubby the night of July 29. Both of them were chilling and I just cannot think of anything, until Mom told me to put some cold face towels in their forehead. I watched them over night to track their temperature and make sure that they will not miss any medications. Early morning of the following day, Jolo has fever too. That makes it more difficult for me. . . . sabi nga ni Migs “Mom you have 3 patients. Dad is patient No. 1, I am patient No. 2 and Jolo is patient No. 3” And Migs address me as Nurse Mommy. Hahaha!!! TOXIC.
